The moon rises over the blue bayou
And the music starts under the moonlight
I feel my heart beating as I hold you
As we dance in rhythm with pure delight

The moon rises high in the starry night
And the music plays the rhythm we know
I gaze into your eyes, feeling alright
As we dance all night by the blue bayou

The moon shines brightly at the fais do-do
And the music plays on all through the night
I smile as I wrap my arms around you
As we dance while holding each other tight

As the moon smiles over the blue bayou
We dance in rhythm at the fais do-do
