Funeral

By Alex Baranda

Quietly, the hearse travels so slowly
As it pilots an empty procession
He is until the end solitary
Never good enough, always forsaken

You broke his heart into million pieces
A promised love, but ‘twas a deadly blow
Crushed and brokenhearted, his life had ceased
As all hope was lost, and he sank so low

Death, with his sickle, sits right next to him
As his lifeless form lowers to the ground
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, the hymn
Silence, in the end, not a single sound

Were you saddened and shed a tear to cry?
Or did you care enough to say goodbye?
